Advanced Photography: Final Semester Project

Ted Grant was a renown photographer who once said, "When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls." Black and white photos can be a unique technique to display the emotions that humanity is overwhelmed with on a daily basis. In this photo we have a student that is embracing the new Pittsburg High School building. Not only will the new building be a fresh start for current students, but it will also be a new tradition for future pupils.

The famous American writer, Richard Bach, once wrote "The  bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life." In this photo we have two members in my advanced photography group who I can seek assistance from. The entire group is a family who are vital in my life. Every single one of them contributes to the family, whether it is bringing in jokes for the family or even a smile, they are all essential in the group. Being part of this group is a gift that I have been granted with for my final year of high school.

The rule of thirds can be a powerful element in photography. In this photo we have Brandon Deleon as our subject. The image merely illustrates the subject's everyday emotion: solemn. The student is a responsible student who never ceases to achieve that passing grade in math. His characteristic is a valuable quality that will assist him to never give up when moments become strenuous.

In this photo the rule of thirds is used to illustrate the subject and her personality. The subject, Marissa, is giving a smile to the camera.

In this image Marisa is wearing her Pittsburg Pirates jersey. Marissa has a passion that no one can take away from her, which is her love for soccer.

Smiles are contagious. Some of us do not like sharing our smiles, but what we do not realize is that our smiles can change another person's life. Whether we are encountering difficult times in life, we must still maintain a smile.

Capturing light and darkness in a photo is a way to illustrate the agony that people experience in life. Although Marissa does not show a sign of sadness, she illustrates a luminous smile. Some of us are compelled with an excessive amount of difficulties in life that we manage to still pull off a smile. Marianne Williamson once said, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us." We all have a choice. We can either let fear from letting us live our lives, or we can overcome it and seek our future goals and aspirations that we want to pursue.
