Inspired Photos: August Sander

Photos influenced by the renown photographer, August Sander.

August Sander was born in Herdorf Germany on November 17, 1876. His father was a carpenter who worked in the mining industry. August Sander learned to be a professional photographer by helping a photographer that participated in a mining company. Sander has witnessed World War I and World War II. Sander's work consists of a variety of topics: nature, landscape, architecture,  and street photography. In the year 1964, August Sander deceased in Cologne.

August Sanders motivated us to take astonishing black and white photos. These photos are suppose to portray the grievous lives of Germans during both World Wars. The reason why we will utilize a black and white filter is to capture the misery and despair that Germans have experienced. In some of our photos we will include a beam of light in our pictures to illustrate that Germans did not cease to overcome their dreadful experiences. In some of August Sander's photos, one would rarely find his subjects smiling. Because Germany has been overwhelmed with an excessive amount of agony, the majority of its people have lost their smiles. Our group will attempt to capture identical photos and we will proceed to capture the emotions that August Sanders has photographed throughout his life time.
